# Overview of AML Onboarding Workflow for individuals

## Introduction

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to complete the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) onboarding and Verification of Identity (VOI) workflow for clients on the compliance platform. Following this workflow ensures that all regulatory requirements are met, identity documents are fully checked, background and sanctions screenings are performed, risk assessments are completed, escalations are managed, and the client is safely onboarded.

## Steps

1. **Access the Compliance Centre:** Locate the matter under review on the dashboard. Identify the clients whose onboarding status displays as "In Progress" or "Risk Pending."
2. **Complete Verification of Identity (VOI):** Access the client's profile and review their VOI documents. This includes sending a mobile verification code, verifying liveness detection, reviewing government-issued documents (such as a driver's license and passport), signing the compliance declaration, and downloading the verification report.
3. **Review the KYC Onboarding Form:** Open the client's submitted Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding form to review personal details, residential addresses, occupation, and transaction purposes. Once confirmed, save and complete the form.
4. **Perform AML Risk Assessment:** Click the **AML summary** button in the top-right corner of the client's details card, then scroll down to the **Assessments** section to open the Risk Assessment questionnaire. Evaluate the potential risks associated with high-value transactions, asset types, physical currency, remote channels, politically exposed persons (PEPs), Sanctions, and Adverse Media lists before updating the client's risk profile.
5. **Execute Final Onboarding Checks:** Satisfy all necessary internal guidelines by confirming that the client's identity, representative authority, and screening results are checked on reasonable grounds on the checklist, then save the record.
6. **Onboard the Client and Generate Report:** Once assessments show a green **COMPLETED** status, click the **Onboard** button at the bottom-right of the screen. In the **Confirm onboarding** modal, confirm the action to officially update the client's status to onboarded, and generate the final AML Onboarding Report for audit compliance. If something changes in the risk profile of the client you’re onboarding, you can revisit the AML summary and make the relevant changes to the Risk Assessment to alter the risk rating.

## Summary

By executing these steps, practitioners can systematically verify client identities, assess financial risks, and satisfy rigorous AML compliance standards. The completed records and generated reports provide a robust trail of due diligence.
