# Understanding Screening Check Statuses

This article explains the various statuses you might encounter while conducting and reviewing a PEPs, Sanctions, and Adverse Media check in the system.

## When to Use This

Refer to this guide when you are managing background checks and need to understand what a specific status indicates about the progress or outcome of a PEPs check.

## Statuses

1. **Default State:** The standard view before a search is initiated. You may have the option to change the accuracy of the search (e.g., to "Precise").
2. **Processing/Loading:** Displayed while the system is actively processing your search request.
3. **Error:** Indicates that something went wrong with the search. You will see a "Try again" option.
4. **Cancelled:** Shows that a user has manually cancelled the search in progress.
5. **Profiles Found:** Indicates the search has returned potential matches. You must click "Review" to proceed.
6. **Requested:** Appears next to individual profiles that you have selected for a detailed review.
7. **In Progress:** The overall status while you are actively reviewing requested profiles.
8. **Completed (No Profiles Found):** The search finished and found no matches. No further action is required.
9. **Completed (No Matches Selected):** Profiles were found, but you confirmed that none of them matched the individual.

## Common Questions

* **Why does the status say "Error"?** This means the system could not complete the check. You should click "Try again" to re-run the search.

* **Can I change the accuracy of a check?** Yes, before ordering, you may have the option to adjust the search accuracy, such as setting it to "Precise".

## Troubleshooting Tips

* **Status is stuck on Loading:** If the check appears stuck, wait a few moments. If it still doesn't resolve, check your internet connection or try refreshing the page.

* **Unsure if a check is finished:** A check is only fully resolved when it reaches a "Completed" status. If it says "Profiles Found" or "In Progress", further action is required from you.
